Romek's Note is a story written for children of eight years and older. Romek is Babka's grandson, and Starka, Babka's own grandmother, tells the story from her viewpoint in Heaven. It's a culturally specific story about a very common problem.
Romek's Note is based on my experiences as a cultural and linguistic anthropologist living and doing research in Silesia, Poland. It deals with some of the same problems that my book, Languages and Silence in the German-Polish Borderland, discusses at a college reading level.
